About the Role
As a Senior Legal Counsel in Data Protection you will combine senior-level legal advisory work with the opportunity to shape and grow Fondia’s Data Protection practice in Lithuania. You will advise clients on practical and business-critical Data Protection matters, act as a trusted legal partner, and collaborate closely with Nordic–Baltic colleagues to develop high-quality, client-focused services in a growing area of legal need.
Key Responsibilities
Independently managing client assignments and acting as a trusted legal partner, providing business‑oriented legal advice across a broad range of business law matters;
Advising clients on legal issues arising during their business activities within the scope of the position, including analyzing situations, preparing legal assessments, and drafting, reviewing, and negotiating relevant legal documentation;
Providing expert Data Protection advisory and consultancy to clients, including practical guidance on compliance, risk management, documentation, acting as Data Protection Officer for the clients, and day-to-day privacy-related legal questions;
Leading the development of Fondia’s Data Protection practice in Lithuania, including strengthening the service offering, building internal know-how, collaborating with Nordic–Baltic colleagues, and identifying new client opportunities in this area;
Identifying legal risks and practical solutions for clients while contributing to knowledge sharing and mentoring within the legal team.
Requirements
A Master’s degree in Law;
Preferably 7+ years of experience in legal advisory, either in a law firm, in-house legal team, or another client-facing legal role;
Strong expertise in Data Protection and practical experience in advising clients on Data Protection and privacy-related matters;
Certification on Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) by International Association of Privacy Professionals;
Prior responsibility for independently managing client relationships or acting as a main legal contact for business clients;
Prior experience acting as Data Protection Officer;
Strong legal drafting skills, including the ability to prepare, review, and structure contracts, corporate documents, claims, and other client-related legal documentation;
Interest in developing as a visible Data Protection expert and contributing to the growth of Fondia’s legal services in Lithuania;
General knowledge of commercial law: corporate, employment, contract law;
Ability to analyze legal regulation and apply it in practice;
Fluency in Lithuanian and English, both written and spoken;
Responsible, structured, and proactive working style;
Ability to work independently, take ownership of client and team matters.
Considered an advantage
Experience in business development, and account management i.e., conducting sales, and growing and successfully managing a portfolio of client accounts;
Certifications on other topics related to cyber-security, data protection, privacy management (for example, Cybersecurity by ISC2 (International Information System Security Certification Consortium), Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) by International Association of Privacy Professionals), etc.;
Experience working in an international or cross‑border environment.
